VENICE, Italy (AP) - The director of perhaps the most provocative movie at this year's Venice Film Festival said he was looking for an alternative to ``Hollywood fairy tales.''

``Bully,'' directed by Larry Clark, is based on events that happened in Florida in 1993. A group of teens murder the school bully in the film, which includes nudity, obscene language, violence, drug abuse and sex.

Some critics have said its disturbing content needs to be scaled back.

Clark disagreed in an interview in Corriere della Sera, a Milan daily.

``True, mine isn't a politically correct film,'' the director said, ``but it isn't a hypocritical film. At this point, juvenile crime and murder committed by one's friends or parents happens throughout the world.''

Clark said he wants to see whether his film, which was not rated in the United States, will provoke a reaction in other countries.

``Bully'' screened at the festival Thursday night.
