NEW YORK (Atlantic Recording press release) - Atlantic recording group the
Donnas have entered the studio to begin work on the eagerly anticipated follow-up to their breakthrough 2002 label debut, "SPEND THE NIGHT."
The Bay Area-based band is currently ensconced at Los Angeles' Conway Studio with producer
Butch Walker, known for his work with Avril Lavigne, Midtown, and Sevendust, alongside his own acclaimed solo career. The as-yet-untitled collection is tentatively slated for release this fall.
After almost a decade as one of rock'n'roll's coolest combos, with the release of "SPEND THE NIGHT" the Donnas saw America fall head over heels for their trademark rock/pop blast. The album - the band's fifth full-length collection - debuted in the No 1 position on the Billboard "Heatseekers" chart of new and developing artists, fuelled by their breakthrough radio hit, "Take It Off." The raucous track was a major success at both Active and Mainstream Rock radio outlets.
The Donnas were also all over national TV, with appearances on "Saturday Night Live," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," and "The View." In addition, the "Take It Off" companion video was a "Buzzworthy" sensation at MTV and MTV2, and a staple on the "TRL" countdown.
Long hailed for their blistering live performances, the Donnas also spent a lot of nights on stage - touring with the likes of the Strokes and Jimmy Eat World, appearing on Lollapalooza 2003, and embarking on their own headlining treks. The band played all over the world, and also rocked such events as the UK's Carling Weekend and California's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
The Donnas have been the subject of major features in magazines and newspapers across the country, including cover appearances in Seventeen and Alternative Press, and profiles in Rolling Stone, "The New York Times," Vanity Fair, and many more.
The Donnas are: Brett Anderson: Vocals * Torry Castellano: Drums * Maya Ford: Bass * Allison Robertson: Guitars.
