Divine Events, in partnership with WonderRoot, the 2012 A3C Hip Hop Festival and Needle To The Record DJ Competition, presents the DJ panel, "Needle: Off the Record," Saturday, October 13, from 4-6pm, at GPB-TV, located at 260 14th Street, Atlanta, 30318. Please note this panel is an "off site" event from other WonderRoot/A3C content.
"Needle: Off the Record" is an intimate moment with your favorite DJ's favorite DJ. Panelists will share their trials and triumphs, give stories from behind the turntables, and glimpse of hip hop history will be offered from the men and women who speak with their hands. Identified as the "messengers of the music," the DJ panelists will engage in dialogue about the beginnings of their careers, "paying dues" in the industry, and offer invaluable advice they have for other DJs and artists. The panel will also feature "turntable testimonies," where the panelists share "the song" and related experience that changed their career as a DJ. The opportunity for audience questions will be towards the end of the panel.
"Needle: Off the Record" will be moderated by Kemi Bennings of Evolve! Artists Live and Ministers of Sound. Confirmed panelists include:

Needle To The Record DJ Competition (N2TR) kicked off its first competition July 8, 2006, at Club Vinyl in Atlanta, Georgia and celebrates the prolific history of turntablism by taking the audience to its roots: vinyl only, head-to-head competition. Created and produced by Kimberly Stewart of Absolutely
Divine Events, this competition features talented DJs, exposing audiences to the cutting edge of DJ artistry. The competition debuted during the A3C Hip Hop Festival in 2010. Over the years, special guest judges included: DJ Lord, DJ Klever, DJ Machete X, DJ Shiftee, DJ Scratch, DJ Rob Swift, DJ Applejac, DJ Jaycee and the inventor of scratching, the legendary GrandWizzard Theodore of the Fantastic Five.
WonderRoot is an Atlanta-based non-profit arts and service organization with a mission to unite artists and community to inspire positive social change. The A3C Hip Hop Festival, going into its eighth year, is a 2-day, 3-night event held annually in Atlanta, GA. A3C has not only become the largest Hip Hop festival in the southeastern United States, but is the premier gathering place for MCs, DJs and producers that create Hip Hop music as well as participants and fans of the culture. In addition to more than 300 live performances and showcases, the A3C Hip Hop Festival features turntable, producer, emcee and break dance competitions as well as educational and community programming including panel discussions and workshops.
