PHOENIX, AZ (Kamakaze Productions) - Thunderthing of Gaithersburg, MD has released a CD with a difference. "Darkness on the Edge of My Mind" deals with dark, disturbing themes about death, vampire love and serial killers.
The band only lets up on two tracks, "Asshole," a Zappa-esque ode to bullshit artists, pretty appropriate with the upcoming elections and "John Wayne's World," a silly song about a cross dressing college professor. The word "band" is used loosely here because "Darkness on the Edge of My Mind" is the creation of one man, Keith Kehrer of Kamakaze Productions. He is the only remaining member of this band originally formed in Phoenix, Arizona.

About The Band: Thunderthing was originally an eight-track recording that Keith Kehrer wrote and recorded while playing in another band. When the band members went their separate ways, Keith grabbed the drummer, Andy Ziker and three other friends, Dave Plagman, Guitar, Jeff Koehler, Bass and Bill Dudley, eight string bass and poetry. This was the nineties before grunge hit and just as punk and metal were converging. Keith had a different concept for shows and music combining sexual themes, outlandish garb, and a heavy groove with Arabic influences. Eventually Dave, the guitar player left and Keith took over guitar duties, finding an original style to compliment his vocalizations and songwriting.
The last incarnation of the band was a power trio that included Jeff on bass and a new drummer, Mark Clayton, who kicked things into a more heavy, Hendrix influenced groove. Eventually Mark and Jeff left the band leaving Keith to finish a five song EP and back where he started. And then there was one...
