LOS ANGELES (USA and World Hip-Hop Championships/ www.hiphopinternational.com) - Hip-Hop dance crews from across America and the World are coming to Los Angeles to compete for street dance supremacy at the USA and World Hip-Hop Championships August 5 - 8.
The USA Championship August 5 & 6 provides the nation's top dancers with a venue to showcase both old school moves and new school styles and the opportunity to advance to the World Hip-Hop Championship August 7 & 8 to compete against international crews selected in their home countries. Qualifying rounds will be held August 5 & 7 at the Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel with the USA and World Finals conducted August 6 & 8 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. (See full schedule below)

Judging the final competition on Sunday August 8th will be Debbie Allen who continues to be one of the most respected, relevant, and versatile talents in the entertainment industry today. "Hip-Hop is one of the most powerful languages spoken all over the world today. A festival like this one closes the gap between the street and the studio," explained Allen. The judging panel will also include Choreographer Dave Scott who has danced his way into a multi-faceted career encompassing choreography, music and films, which includes working with the best and hottest from B2K to Brian McKnight and Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski.
Scott was supervising Choreographer in the film "You Got Served," where Scott choreographed and arranged the entire movie, which includes 11 battle scenes, 15 crews, and a multitude of dance scenes similar to what will be presented at the 3rd USA & World Hip-Hop Championships. "Hip-Hop is a universal language and is strong with Freestyle, where freestyle is your style. The competition gives dancers the opportunity to get on the floor and bring it on and never stop," said Scott.

This year, the competition welcomes crews from over 15 countries, which include China, New Zealand, Trinidad, Tobago, Brazil and Japan who will compete for the 2004 world title. Dance crews will consist of a minimum of five to a maximum of eight members and may be made up of any combination of males and females.
The competition is produced and organized by Hip-Hop International who are the creators and producers of the USA and World Sportaerobic Championships which have been broadcast on ESPN for the past 15 years to over 230 million homes and 170 countries. The dance crews will be divided into juniors ages 7 - 12, varsity ages 12 - 17 and Adult ages 18 and older.
