New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The musical composer and performer known as Mazatl Galindo has released his newest full-length record album, titled simply, "Red." The album contains 10 tracks for a total of 45 minutes' worth of enchanting, remarkable music. The songs utilize a creative, tasteful mix of instrumentation with an emphasis on raw, warm, acoustics such as flute, guitar, and percussion, but also including a light smattering of synthesized effects, drums and keyboard, which blend a more contemporary atmosphere with the sounds of the pre-Columbian era.
Composer and performer Mazatl Galindo is a native of Mexico City, which is built upon the foundation of the largest Aztec city-state, Tenochtitlan, in the Valley of Mexico. He names as his main musical influences a broad spectrum of geniuses, including the famous film composer, Ennio Morricone,
Genesis front man and flautist,
Peter Gabriel, noted postmodern composer Philip Glass, and the Chilean folk ensemble, Inti-Illimani. Galindo got his start in music with traditional Aztec, Amerindian ceremonial song and dances, the foundation of which has informed his arts from the very beginning.
Galindo has devoted his life to the preservation of pre-Columbian music, having composed original scores for documentaries, films and commercial recordings using his collection of more than 200 original instruments. He has appeared (among a great many other venues) at the Museum of the American Indian in New York City, the Museum of Art in Dallas, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Young Museum in San Francisco. He has also performed at many vitally important sites of the ancient world, including Stonehenge in England, the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and Machu Picchu in Peru.
He is well schooled in Ancient American art, architecture, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, cosmology and ceremony. He strives with his music to communicate the Aztec understanding of an interconnectedness that runs throughout all life, and which directly relates humanity to the natural world.
His majestic, newest contribution to the appreciation and preservation of pre-Columbian culture, the album "Red," is available online worldwide beginning April 26, 2013.
The LP "Red" is distributed globally by MondoTunes (www.MondoTunes.com) and is available at iTunes www.top40-charts.com for convenient purchase and download.
