NASHVILLE, TN (Arista Records) - Grammy-winning Arista Nashville superstar
Alan Jackson ushers in the release of his new album,
What I Do (in stores today), with a trip to New York City to perform on Wednesday's Late Show with
David Letterman and NBC's Today on
Thursday morning.
Accompanying Jackson on backing vocals for both New York television appearances will be husband and wife recording duo, the Wrights. Jackson will perform "If Love Was a River," a song co-written by Adam Wright, Jackson's nephew, and wife Shannon, from his What I Do album on Letterman.
The Wrights recently signed to Jackson's independent label, ACR (Alan's Country Records) for a release in partnership with RCA Records Nashville. The multi-talented singer-songwriters recently completed their debut album for ACR / RCA Records, co-produced by Keith Stegall and John Kelton.
The first single from the new CD will ship to radio this fall, with the album release slated for Spring 2005.
As part of Today's popular concert series, Jackson will take to the stage outside Rockefeller Center for a live performance including two songs in the 8:30 AM ET half hour before closing the third hour with an additional song at approximately 9:50 AM ET.
Critics are praising Jackson's What I Do as USA Today declares, "Future generations of country singers wanting a classic country template from these days will need look no further than the masterfully crafted 'What I Do.'"
"When Jackson's singing material close to his real life, he's simply the best male vocalist in the business," offers the Chicago Sun-Times, continuing, "Jackson is such a smooth and authoritative singer that it remains one of life's great pleasures to hear him croon..."
The Los Angeles Times states, "Jackson always sounds as though he means every word and gives those words his utmost respect...," while the Dallas Morning News cheers, "AJ's the real deal."
Jackson's album release and New York appearances come on the heels of the past week's CMA Awards nominations, for which the reigning CMA Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year became the most-nominated artist for the 2004 awards, earning seven nominations.
Jackson continues performing his crowd-pleasing, hit-packed concerts on the road this fall with the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride opening.
