CARLSBAD, CA. (Blue Crown Records/ www.34below.com) - Award-winning national recording artists 34Below will fire-up the beaches in Destin, FL. (September 11-15) with their high-energy acoustic performances, while internationally acclaimed marine artist Wyland paints his way to a new Guinness World Record.
The multiple-genre appeal of 34Below has been the cornerstone to their rapidly increasing success. The band's raw, energetic talent offers the perfect, upbeat blend of diversity - powerful vocals, aggressive guitar and percussions, fluidic harmonies, and catchy, thought-provoking lyrics.
34Below consistently captures the attention of audiences nationwide, and was an integral part of the 'Wyland Ocean Challenge Tour' to clean up the beaches from
Maine to Florida. '34Below is one of those rare bands that moves people with their music and their message,' says Wyland. 'The songs are from the heart--the music rocks. But what's really unusual about these guys is that they really do care about what's happening in the world, and they put it all together in a way that touches people long after the music ends.'
As the highly successful tour winds to a close, the next stop is the Legendary
Marina at 688 Regatta Blvd, Destin, FL. where a 61,070 square-foot expansion was added to the existing 71,560 square-foot Marina. The Legendary
Marina is home to Wyland's Whaling Wall No 88, "Marine Life of the Gulf." This massive, yet intricate artwork is one of Wyland's many international murals, and depicts a wide array of sea creatures found in the Gulf of Mexico. Wyland will work his magic once again, transforming an ordinary expansion wall into an elaborate underwater portrayal of whales, dolphins, sharks, manta rays, manatees and turtles, bringing to life a visual pictorialization of these endangered species.
Wyland also painted the Marina's 100,048 square-foot rooftop, dedicated on Oct. 17, 2001, which displays a patriotic American flag and the poignant message, "Thank You...God Bless America".
'The timing is perfect for Wyland to return on
September 11, 3 years after the 2001 dedication, and paint the
Marina expansion,' says Chris James, guitarist/vocalist for 34Below. 'We are thrilled to entertain the crowds with songs from our new CD, Live at Dublin Square, and be part of Wyland's worldwide cause for a cleaner marine environment.'
Upon completion of the expansion wall, a new Guinness Record will be established for the world's largest mural, a staggering 232,678 square-feet. This breaks Wyland's own mural record set with Whaling Wall No 38, 'Planet Ocean,' painted on the Long Beach
Arena in 1992. The Destin, FL.
Marina festivities begin Saturday,
September 11th, with an opening ceremony at 10:00 A.M., continuing until the dedication on
September 19th at 12:00 Noon. For more information go to
