Silverhawk releases 'Westward' October 5th, 2004 on Blue Eyed Crow

NEW YORK (Blue Eyed Crow/ www.blueeyedcrow.com) - The Blue Eyed Crow Music label announces the debut full-length from Silverhawk featuring Sam and JOhn C. Densmore. "Westward' is their new Psychedelic Americana CD, due for release on October 5th of 2004.

Silverhawk has garnered comparisons to The Beatles, Guided By Voices, R.E.M., and Modern Lovers. However, with their latest, "Westward", they expand beyond the indie-pop and power-pop leanings of their debut and go for a rich combination of baritone guitar-laced psychedelic Americana music, juxtaposing spacey and psychedelic aesthetics with country, blues, and classic rock 'n' roll. The album features two Ennio Morricone-influenced twang-y, psychedelic instrumentals, while kicking up the dirt and paying homage to such widespread influences as retro rock, psychedelia, alt-country, power-pop, and post-punk.

Sam Densmore comments, 'It's not exactly a concept album but 'Westward' is a direct reference to 'Westward Expansion'. It's about western men's empiricle 'hell or high water' attitude when it comes to love, money and the aquisition of real estate. We'll kill and steal, cross the desert, demean ourselves, etc in the pursuit of what we believe is love or power. Of course, it's a dead-end pursuit that kills or makes prodigal sons out of us. Utilizing sarcasm and black humor,the songs on 'Westward' outline a love story and present a commentary on 'pop culture view' of love as materialism or objectification.'

Dark and ironic, yet melodic enough to make you sing along, here are ten catchy, twisting songs that will spiral through your head and lodge themselves in your mind.

Silverhawk is fronted by brothers John and Sam Densmore. Along with a solid supporting cast, Silverhawk plans to hit the West Coast heavily following "Westward"'s release in the fall, and continue East as their markets grow.
