WHO: Russell Simmons, Chairman of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.

WHAT: Pre-Launch Party for the Hip-Hop Team Vote Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Tour, whereby buses going to a select number of swing states and other locations in the south and the Midwest, will be urging young people to Get Out The Vote between now and Election Day November 2nd. In the past year, the HSAN has organized Hip-Hop Summits and other events where the biggest superstars in the hip-hop world including Nelly, Lloyd Banks, Outkast's Andre 3000, Beyonce, Eminem, Will Smith, LL Cool J, P Diddy, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, D 12, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Juvenile, Master P, Snoop Dogg, Layzie Bone, Kanye West, Noreaga, Erykah Badu, Nas, Ice Cube, Tego Calderon and others stressed the importance of the hip-hop vote and youth empowerment. Through Hip-Hop Team Vote and partner organizations, HSAN and these artists have encouraged 2 million young people to register to vote.

Founded in 2001 by Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) is dedicated to harnessing the cultural relevance of Hip-Hop music to serve as a catalyst for education advocacy and other societal concerns fundamental to the well-being of at-risk youth throughout the United States.
