Broadway lyricist Fred Ebb, 76, dies of heart attack at 76

NEW YORK (Broadway News Website) - The man who wrote the lyrics for some of Broadway's biggest musicals has died.

Fred Ebb penned the words for musicals like "Chicago" and "Cabaret" - while also writing the lyrics to the classic Manhattan anthem "New York, New York."
Ebb and Kander's collaborations included Kiss of the Spider Woman, Zorba, The Rink and Woman of the Year, in a partnership lasting four decades.

An assistant to longtime Ebb collaborator John Kander says Ebb died of a heart attack at his New York home. He was believed to be 76.
Ebb and composer Kander wrote the scores for eleven Broadway musicals and won Tony Awards for three.
