SAN FRANCISCO (GarageBand.com) - GarageBand.com, the web's largest independent music community, today announced ChoozaPalooza https://www.ChoozaPalooza.com , a 10-city tour to register voters in five swing states. Thanks to the support of sponsors MSN
Music and Klipsch Audio Technologies, the company will hold a series of free outdoor concerts featuring the best of its member artists in each city. With voter registration deadlines looming just weeks away, the company hopes to register thousands of new U.S. voters in time for the Nov. 2 election.
"We Put the Chooza in ChoozaPalooza"
Staying true to its grass-roots image, GarageBand invited its giant membership to influence which artists will perform at ChoozaPalooza. Within a week, GarageBand heard from over 7,000 bands competing for the coveted slots, with listeners casting over 60,000 votes. Each city's performance will feature three local acts from that city, with final lineups to be determined this week.
"Powered by People"
Leveraging its membership of 450,000 registered members worldwide, GarageBand has organized the ChoozaPalooza tour largely as a volunteer effort. In just one week the company received a thousand inquiries from members volunteering to help organize the events.
"The public interest has been overwhelming," said Ali Partovi, GarageBand CEO and Chief Looza for the tour. "GarageBand has always been about empowering ordinary people to choose which music gets promoted. With ChoozaPalooza, we're empowering ordinary people to choose their government, and it's all thanks to the extraordinary support of ordinary people volunteering to help." ChoozaPalooza will be partly funded by sponsors MSN Music and Klipsch Audio. "Independent musicians are an important part of the future of music," said Christina Calio, spokeswoman for MSN Music. "As we broaden our music service offerings, MSN is delighted to support independent artists and to champion the cause of voter registration."
"There are things that matter in this world and choosing the people who lead your country is at the top of the list," said Klipsch spokesman Joshua Hall. "Of all the get-out-the-vote programs, ChoozaPalooza is the first to frame the issue with an indisputable truth: if you don't vote, you're a looza."
