RECORD OF THE WEEK
Dido - Sand In My Shoes: 'Sand in my Shoes' can be related to by anyone who wanted to get away from it all and then had to come back home after an enjoyable vacation. It's got some romance in it too... must have been a summer fling thing. 'Sand in My Shoes' is a very radio friendly rock/pop song that's bound to be the fall hit single.
I really like this track, it's a bit poppy and uplifting. "I've still got sand in my shoes and I can't shake the thought of you. I should get on forget you but why would I want to. I know we said goodbye... but I want to see you again." I can't get the chourus out of my head! A great pop song.

HOT SHOT RECORD
Joss Stone - You Had Me: You Had Me is Jossy's next single and I love to listen it on the radio or ineternet! Joss Stone, for those of you who don't know is a female UK Superstar who is a little different than the rest - mainly because she can sing!
'You Had Me' is a catchy tune that will probably ride high in the charts (thank God for the charts!) The song is taken from Joss' second album "Mind Body Soul" and promises to be another unique attempt to introduce the world to Joss' unique sound.

Beastie Boys - Triple Trouble: This track is one that supports their new album 'To The 5 Boroughs.' It's classic Beastie Boys! 'Triple Trouble' is the 'Three MCs and One DJ' of 'Boroughs.' Great lyrics ('What the Helen of Troy is that?'), a great piano-infused beat, changing it up constantly, all make up a stand-out track, that could turn into one of the singles. The song freaks the opening break of "Rappers Delight" in a totally original way!

Bryan Adams - Open Road: Bryan Adams isn't been fashionable since' Everything I Do' became a phenomenon, he teamed up with shouty spice and even his nickname sounds out of date. What people forget is that at one point he used to write decent rock songs, like "Cuts Like A Knife", "Summer Of '69" and "Run To You".
It's to the latter that he returns with "Open Road", the first single from his new album, "Room Service". Brand new studio album from Adams, his first in three years and produced by the man himself.

The Corrs - Angel: Another classic pop/rock driving track by Corrs. Produced by the Corrs only, this is a good song. A folk-rocky song dedicated to their mum that makes you sing and dance and if not dance, just wristle on the chair in the office! The lyrics are very touching, too. This is quality Europop music and it can stir emotion like a wild oceanic storm whips the sea.

Fatboy Slim - Slash Dot Slash: Taken from his new album 'Palookaville', 'Slash Dot Dash' was always Norman Cook's choice for first single. The biggest and dumbest track off the whole album. Repetitive samples and monstrous guitars. This is the right calling card. Fatboy Slim back in business! This should remind everyone what they have been missing.
Norman Cook comments: "'Slash Dot Dash' is a mix of old and new Fatboy. There is repetition but this time the track actually has live guitars! The plan was to throw in a bit of Buzzcocks and The White Stripes. The track is just a comment on this new language people seem to have - although I don't even own a computer. Well, I do, the Atari in my studio, but no one ever sent me an email on that!".

Green Day - American Idiot: The first original album since 2000 from modern rock superheroes Green Day, American Idiot is one of the most anticipated and controversial albums of the year. Scathing yet self-effacing as it tells the tale of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, American Idiot is the punk rock epic. "A bold, polished punk opera." (Entertainment Weekly) "They're the biggest, most successful, punk band the world has ever seen. What's more, Green Day's next album may well be their masterpiece." (Kerrang!)
'American Idiot' was released August 12 at No 1 on the US iTunes charts and already it has sold over 998,000 copies! Green Day on 'American Idiot,' descrives perfectly how the US nation is being controlled by the media. (Green Day speaks about US, because they haven't watched yet the UK media...)
In the end: BUY IT DEFINETALY, WHAT A GREAT SONG FOR ANY ADULT - ABSOLOUTELY NOT FOR KIDS (which are buying usually Westlife and McFly...)

Los Lonely Boys - Heaven: This is LOS LONELY BOYS debut album. Surprise? US radio stations played this track as an "hour to hour"! It's a cross between Mink DeVille, Los Lobos and Santana - perfect for the spring airwaves! This hype is real. These guys are absolutely the real thing.
Their sound is a little bit Santana, a little bit Los Lobos, a little Stevie Ray thrown in, and a whole lot of the Garza Brothers Rock and Roll. They play very tight melodies, the song-writing and lyrics are real and heartfelt. All of the brothers sing and their harmonies are right on. In the UK Official Singles Chart this track will fail - like all the LATIN music (genre) songs - even if it speaks in 'english' (lyrics). Do yourself a big favor and set this track in your playlist. Try something different and you will not regret it!!!

Rammstein - Mein Teil: After 3 years, the new Rammstein single is finally here. No one knew which song from their new album, entitled "Reise Reise" (Voyage Voyage), would be chosen as the first single. Earlier this year, the choice seemed to be "Rosenrot" (Rose Red). Not too long after, the group chose "Mein Teil" (My Thing/Share).
The song, itself, is probably the harder song Rammstein ever created, with the subject: The Cannibal of Rotenburg (to resume for those who doesn't know much about this story: there was a man, in Germany, that wrote a quote on the ent, searching for: a man between 18 and 30, to be sexually abused (SadoMasochism), then being eaten, alive... So I figure you can probably imagine the rest). Once again, the Germans Rammstein provocates us with poetically-chocking lyrics, and make us reflect about how the line between men and animals can be thin (for those who haven't seen the Clip about the song, we see the band members fighting each others (at the end), then being chained down as dogs... Pretty evocative).

Skinnyman - No Big Ting: If UK hip hop is the spiritual descendent of punk - and, in the hands of someone like the Streets, it is - then SkinnyMan is akin to rap's Joe Strummer, bubbling over with inner-city anger and full of the skillz to parlay that anger into a message that is wholly relevant to all age groups, even those that stretch far beyond his own. It seems Skinnyman has been saving up all his pearls of wisdom and rhythmic evidence of the intelligence he hints at in interviews for this concept album, of the council estate of mind. It's not the perfect Skinnyman single we were waiting for. But it's damned good and in years to come, could prove to be very pivotal.
