BMI Honors KC & The Sunshine Band With Multitude Of Awards For Iconic Hits That Defined The 70s And Shaped The Face Of Modern-Day Pop Music
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Just a week before their first album in over a decade, Feeling You! The 60s, hits stores worldwide, KC and The Sunshine Band is honored with a multitude of awards from BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.), recognizing their long-standing career and outstanding contributions to the music industry through iconic hits like "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "Get Down Tonight," "That's The Way (I Like It)," "Please Don't Go," and many more. The band's frontman, Harry Wayne "KC" Casey was present at the BMI offices in Nashville, Tenn. today to accept the coveted awards from BMI Director and Writer Publisher, David Preston.

Among the honors garnered were seven (7) Pop Awards, four (4) million performance certificates, two (2) R&B Awards, two (2) two-million performance certificates, and one (1) Urban Award. The accolades span the years from 1974 to 2013 — the latest in which they won their most recent recognition, an Urban Award, for "Pop That." BMI first recognized their musical contributions in 1974 with a two million performance certificate and Pop Award for international No. 1 smash, "Rock Your Baby."

"If you take a song, of a normal length, and you play it back-to-back, it takes it over six years to reach a million performances. Today, we present KC with certificates representing over eight million performances — a remarkable feat," said Preston. "KC and The Sunshine Band represents a time in history that forever shaped modern-day pop music, and continues to do so with timeless hits that people of every age have come to love. Harry Wayne Casey has made an unforgettable mark in music, and we're honored to present him with these awards today."

KC said, "It puts a smile of my face to know that my music has made such an impact over the years. I created dance music to make people happy, and it turns out that it's made me pretty happy, too! I am also honored to be here in Music City, where I recorded the vocals for my first international No. 1 hit, 'Please Don't Go,' at Sound Stage recording studios. Even though I'm from Miami and consider the Sunshine State my home, Nashville is a great place."

KC and The Sunshine Band's new album, Feeling You! The 60s, is available for pre-order on and now, and will be available in music stores nationwide and worldwide digital realms next Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
