NEW YORK,NY (Columbia Records) - Artists and recordings from the Columbia Records Group garnered 41 nominations in some 35 Grammy categories for recordings released during the Grammy Eligibility Year October 1, 2005 through
September 30, 2006. Nominations for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards were announced in Los Angeles today, Thursday, December 7 by the
National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on February 11, 2007, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8pm-11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
Columbia Records artists nominated for Grammys this year include the Dixie Chicks (5 nominations), John Mayer (5 nominations), Beyonce (5 nominations), Tony Bennett (3 nominations), Bob Dylan (3 nominations), John Legend (3 nominations), Tye Tribbett & G.A. (3 nominations), Bela Fleck & the Flecktones (2 nominations), Bruce Springsteen (2 nominations), Bette Midler, System of a Down, David Gilmour, Harry Connick Jr., Chris Botti, Ralph Stanley and T Bone Burnett.
