New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Indie Week Official Website) - It looks like These Electric Lives' Top Secret Indie Week rehearsal (as seen on Youtube) has paid off! Toronto's These Electric Lives are the winners of Indie Week Canada 2010, and they've won what is perhaps the most valuable prize to Canadian indie artists in this day and age: A tour of another country. In the
Spring of 2011, These Electric Lives will be headlining the touring festival Indie Week Ireland.
Like the pros they are, These Electric Lives powered through a total of four Indie Week performances (including their official judged showcase and the Semi-Finals, both of which they won).
The week culminated at the Finals on Sunday, October 17 at Tattoo Rock Parlour where they showcased before a host of A-list industry judges including Shawn Frank (The Envy), Adam Fujiki (Manager A&R Sony), Ron Hawkins (Lowest of the Low), Sean Jones (Recording artist, WIDEawake Entertainment Group), Cheryl Link (Director of Synchronization Licensing and Creative Manager at Peermusic Canada Inc.), John Payne (President, WIDEawake Entertainment Group) and Barbara Sedun (Sr. VP EMI Publishing).
As always there was a share of controversy and a re-count was demanded, but These Electric Lives made it out on top. The judges scores varied extensively with A Primitive Evolution and Serena Pryne & The Mandevilles tying for second place.
Says Gary Peter of These Electric Lives:
'Winning Indie Week was the cherry on top of a sweet, sweet Sunday! We played 4 hectic shows in 5 days with a brand new drummer who had to learn our songs in a hurry (thanks Robbie!). We were really happy with every performance and would have felt really good about ourselves even if we didn't win. We also made some serious industry connections before the final night. So to go through all that on very little sleep and win the trip to Ireland? Crazy stuff. Thanks Indie Week! Ireland here we come!'
With vocals that evoke Robert Smith of The Cure and some guitar licks reminiscent of U2, These Electric Lives will do very well in Ireland, as their sound is a perfect fit for the Irish music scene. Watch for the highlight of an already fruitful career!
