New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Following more than a year of work in upstate New York's Marcata Sound - rejoining forces with Days producer Kevin MacMahon, while collaborating with outside instrumentalists and special guests for the first time ever - Real Estate's new album The Main Thing is out now. Released Friday on Domino, the 13-song collection, both "self-questioning and frequently beautiful" (UPROXX), has already proven a superlative addition to the acclaimed and influential discography of a band that has "been one of the pillars of indie rock of the past 10-plus years" (NPR Music).

Listen to it in full to hear why the "strikingly more adventurous" (VICE) LP is being called some of Real Estate's most textured, probing, muscular, and enjoyable work yet (quotes below): https://smarturl.it/TheMainThing

Along with the album release, Real Estate have announced four special opportunities for New York City to see some of The Main Thing's music live tomorrow, March 4th. Ahead of an instore performance, signing, and Q&A with Relix Editor-in-Chief Mike Greenhaus at Rough Trade, the band will play three afternoon "Outstores" in front of the former locations of Manhattan's Other Music, Rocks in Your Head, and Kim's Video - a few of their favorite record shops that no longer exist. Check out the flyer below and keep up with the band's socials for more details.

"The Outstore Thing" precedes an extensive international tour that Real Estate will embark on this spring and summer, including a handful of new US dates they've just added to over 35 concerts and a Central Park Garden State Party they're throwing with Sharon Van Etten. Find the full list of shows, and those announced today, here and below.

Praise for The Main Thing:
"Self-questioning and frequently beautiful...a mood of sweet, heart-rending melancholy." - UPROXX
"A reinvention…[The Main Thing] is strikingly more adventurous...Martin Courtney sounds especially confident, singing lines on the title track that rank among his best" - Vice
"Deeply reflective, but it's more about where [Real Estate] are now, 10 years in as a band." - NPR Music
"Real Estate find themselves leaning more into grooves than mellow jams...the five-piece still offers relaxing music, but with a little more of a kick." - Newsweek
"Sunny melodies that split the difference between precise pop and languid jamming" - People
"[Real Estate]'s most solid work to date…'Gone' is the perfect pensive road-trip record" - HYPEBEAST
"The Main Thing is [Real Estate]'s most probing work to date. It contains some of their finest ever songs...a more mature and ambitious record" - NME, 4/5 Stars
"Dreamy but real, hazy but pure and insightful, [The Main Thing] facilitates fresh ambition and explores new ground for Real Estate." - CLASH
"The Main Thing is the continuation of the laud-worthy evolution of a band that will never fully settle down, who continue to push their own boundaries." - Aquarium Drunkard
"A transporting, densely layered record which retains a certain lyrical opacity." - MOJO, 8/10
"The Main Thing, the band's fifth album, is their most settled yet. Also one of their most enjoyable" - BrooklynVegan
"The Main Thing is more angular, more muscular, more interesting than previous efforts - a true achievement given just how hypnotic and lovely past albums have been." - Under the Radar
