New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Band of Heathens have released a new 360° music video for their song "Sugar Queen", "a swampy rocker that hearkens back to early Seventies-era Rolling Stones." An immersive visual experience, the video places the viewer in the center of a rowdy performance from the band that evolves into a Lebowski-esque dream sequence dance party. The "trippy" video is currently streaming on Rolling Stone.
The band writes about the video concept, "The song is about falling for a strong, empowered woman who likes to be in control, and being ok with that, so we had some fun with that idea and with all the visual options this 360 technology allows. It's really 4 or 5 videos happening at once all around you, so no matter where you're looking in the video, you'll be entertained."
The group's new album Duende has also been named one of the best Americana albums of 2017 so far by Rolling Stone. Jeff Gage writes of the album, "Over the years, the once-rotating cast of singers and songwriters in Band of Heathens have steadily solidified into being a singular unit, one that shares the mic rather than passing it off from turn to turn. On Duende, the Austin group's fifth studio LP, that helped the folk-hearted ensemble rock harder than ever, channeling the loose, early Seventies jams of the
Rolling Stones and the Band, but without the members sacrificing their individual voices."
Already the subject of significant acclaim from Relix, No Depression, The Boot, Rolling Stone Country and others, the album climbed to #1 on the Americana
Music Association radio chart, with the single "All I'm Asking" reaching #22 on the Triple A charts. Duende is currently available via iTunes and Amazon.
The group recently released their new single "Deep is Love" to radio. A video for the track premiered with The Boot, who observed that it "pokes fun at the millennial obsession with serving up a picture-perfect life on the internet." Watch it HERE.
The Band of Heathens continue to build buzz with their rapturous live performances. Recently returned from a run of European performances, their upcoming tour schedule will take them to appearances at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Pilgrimage Festival, Americana
Music Festival, and two weekends of performances at Austin City Limits Festival. The band has also announced new Midwest tour dates for 2017, as well as a new tour with longtime musical ally Hayes Carll that will feature both a full set from the Heathens as well as them backing Carll as his band. See below for a full list of dates.
An album built around connection and collaboration, it spotlights a pack of players whose influences - Southern boogie-woogie, stoned soul, heartland country-rock and all points between - are as wide-ranging as their tour dates. - Rolling Stone Country

Though Austin is home, Duende mines the depths of California country rock with songs that are as heavy with hooks as they are with harmonies. Gram Parsons would be proud. - Top40-Charts.com
While Band of Heathens had always been on the radar, with Duende, they're coming out swinging with a sound that is beaming and confident. - No Depression
...It's abundantly clear that the Heathens have worked tirelessly on Duende to bring innovation that counts, and that makes sense when fitting together as a working machine. - Popmatters
