DEEP MAMBO: "When Latin Meets Jazz"

A Latin "Jazztravaganza" featuring several of New York's most notable musicians and prolific percussionists of Latin Music lore, performing standards and improvisational instrumentals with a Jazz-oriented approach. Among the Latin Jazz giants slated to perform are Afro-Cuban Jazz pioneers, Carlos "Patato" Valdez (Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Machito, Mario Bauza, Quincy Jones, etc.) & "Chocolate" Armenteros (Arsenio Rodriguez, Machito, Beny More, Tito Rodriguez, Charlie Palmieri, Cachao, etc.)

In addition to the aforementioned are Percussion/Timbales wizard Nicky Marrero (Steely Dan, Ralph MacDonald, Fania All-Stars, Eddie Palmieri, etc.) Legendary bassist Victor Venegas (Mongo Santamaria, Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Vince Guaraldi, etc.) Prolific arranger & pianist Edy Martinez (Dizzy Gillespie, The Brecker Brothers, Gato Barbieri, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham, etc.) Woodwind player extra-ordinaire Enrique Fernandez (Chico O'Farrill, Duke Ellington Orch., Adela Dalto, Mario Bauza, Nancie Banks Orch., etc.) and conga prince Vicente "Little Johnny" Rivero (Sonora Ponce�a, Batacumbele, Cheo Feliciano, Latin Percussion All-Stars, etc.) rounding off the All-Star musical collective.

Opening the night's performance will be reknowned ethnomusicologist, archivist/collector & film producer Henry Medina as Master of Ceremonies.

Doors open at 8:30pm with showtime starting at 9pm sharp.

Tickets are $25.00 (plus a two drink minimum).
