NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Fania/ UMGD) - After fitness blogger, Neal Rodriguez, saw the Hector Lavoe bio-pic, "El Cantante," he had Hector Lavoe's song, "Aguanile," looping in his head while doing his wind sprints the following morning. He sang the first few lines of the song in front of his camera and uploaded it to YouTube.

"Aguanile" was always one of Neal Rodriguez's favorite Hector Lavoe songs because it was an absolute demonstration of Lavoe's vocal power. Lavoe puts such passion in the music that Marc Anthony's rendition, which he sang in the Hector Lavoe movie, "El Cantante," got Rodriguez to query the song on YouTube at 3 am.

"I heard the original 'Aguanile,' and the lyrics stirred up all the anger I felt at family and other acquaintances when they criticized my self-employed lifestyle," remarked Rodriguez.

These were some of the lyrics that kept looping in Rodriguez's head while running:
"El hombre esclavo de la cruz,
Que vayan delante de mi,
Que le hablen y le respondan,
Ay Dios, tu ve,
Al que me critique a mi,
Yo tengo Aguanile."

In Spanish, Lavoe's words state that all those people that were slaves to the cross should have themselves judged by God before criticizing him. Rodriguez states that it's Lavoe's interpretation of Jesus's story when he said let the man who has never committed a sin cast the first stone when stoning a woman who had sinned.

"Inhaling deep breaths to get my heart beat down after each 400 meter sprint, I kept hearing the chorus harmonizing 'Aguanile,'" Rodriguez added. "When the same lyrics echoed in my head the night before, I had decided that I would perform the words that I could sing well; when they got me through my workout, I started singing scales on my drive back home to warm up my voice."

Rodriguez writes on reason 11 of his fitness article titled "96 Reasons Why You Will Always be Fat" that one of the reasons people don't workout at the intensity that exercise will be most effective is because they don't listen to music that motivates them.

Watch Neal Rodriguez's "Aguanile" video where he sings the first lines and posted original footage of Hector Lavoe performing "Aguanile."

Neal Rodriguez has been perfecting his workout routines for over 20 years, and he keeps himself at optimal health by keeping a 40-30-30 diet from Monday through Friday and regularly circuit training. Rodriguez writes on how he successfully maintains his mind and body fit at Alobravo.com.
