Deer Tick Share "Grandfather Song" From 'Amazon Acoustics' Playlist Out July 31, 2015
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On July 31, Amazon Music will release Amazon Acoustics, a playlist of cover songs and original music from more than 30 artists.

Today, Amazon Music has shared a new song from Deer Tick called "Grandfather Song." Listen to the song here: https://soundcloud.com/amazon-music/deer-tick-grandfather-song

"'Grandfather Song' was originally a demo for our album Negativity," said John McCauley in an email to Entertainment Weekly. "It didn't wind up on the record, so I decided to revisit it recently and I finished the song in my spare time at home in Nashville."

Recently, Consequence of Sound shared The Districts' cover of David Bowie's "Ashes To Ashes" and said "The band's harrowing arrangement makes the recollections of Major Tom possibly even more bleak than Bowie's original, and shows their adoration and respect for the source material."

Pitchfork shared the first song to be released from the playlist, a cover of Outkast's "Hey Ya" from Surfer Blood.

This afternoon, Amazon Music will also be launching a unique fan-chosen song premiere. Fans will vote to either hear The Griswolds' cover of Maroon 5's "Sugar," Joshua Radin's cover of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors," or Peter Matthew Bauer's cover of St. Vincent's "Prince Johnny."

Voting will begin at 3PM ET on 7/28 at facebook.com/amazonmusic, and will run for 24 hours.

Amazon Acoustics will be a playlist available only on Amazon Music—in addition to MP3 download, Prime Music will be the only streaming service to have the original songs available for unlimited listening.

Partial Track List:
Hey Marseilles - "Absolutes" (original song)
Deer Tick - "Grandfather Song" (original song)
Ron Sexsmith - "Circling Round The Drain" (original song)
