LOS ANGELES (Roc-A-Fella Records) - The
Music For Relief organization has announced plans for a benefit concert to be held at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, CA on Friday, February 18th. Scheduled to appear (in no particular order) are No Doubt,
Linkin Park with Jay-Z, Blink 182,
Ozzy Osbourne with the all-star band Camp Freddy, Jurassic 5, Story Of The Year, The
Crystal Method and more. All proceeds from the star-studded evening of music and education will go to the ongoing rebuilding effort in South Asia and surrounding countries. The
Music For Relief organization hopes to raise over one million dollars from the event.
"A disaster of this magnitude that affects so many people forces you to ask yourself, What can I do to help? We were compelled by that question to come together for this show and do what we do best to make the most impact in both dollars and awareness," Tony Kanal from No Doubt commented, "We are looking forward to giving the fans a great show, and in return help raise needed funds that will head to South Asia to rebuild the broken communities of our brothers and sisters on the other side of the globe."
Brad Delson from Linkin Park added, "Music For Relief has played a vital role in helping to get aid to the people who most need it. We are deeply honored to participate in what will likely be our biggest and most powerful event to date."
In addition to the live musical performances, fans can expect a big celebrity turn out with special guests set to appear throughout the night. Special video presentations along with educational booths from various charitable organizations will also be spread throughout the venue in order to educate the crowd.
Tickets, ranging in costs from $85 to $125 (plus applicable service charges) will go on sale Friday, February 11th through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster is joining the efforts of Music For Relief by donating all profits from service charges to the charity from the event.
Concerned musicians formed Music For Relief to provide emergency relief for quake and tsunami victims in South Asia. Artists and industry professionals are donating their time and efforts to this event in hopes of raising the most money and awareness possible. UNICEF and Habitat For Humanity International have recently become partners in the Music For Relief effort and will equally split the evenings proceeds. Music for Relief has contributed over $1.5 million dollars to the American Red Cross International Response Fund for it efforts since its inception. Donations to Music For Relief can be made and more information can be found at www.musicforrelief.org.
To ensure that funds donated through Music For Relief continue to be spent on the re-building of South Asia, the organization is now partnering with UNICEF and Habitat for Humanity International. Both foundations are continuing relief efforts in the areas hardest hit by the tsunami. UNICEF, which has had a longstanding presence in South Asia, will assist in the recovery and rebuilding process by focusing on providing food and water, medical supplies, and education facilities to children. Habitat for Humanity International are helping families by constructing both short-term and long-term shelter for many of the five million people currently displaced from their homes.
Music For Relief: Rebuilding South Asia is a collaboration of efforts from The Firm, Rebel Waltz, Goldenvoice, Brent Bolthouse Productions, SRO Consultants, KROQ, Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, Big City Productions, The MOB Agency, Pinnacle Entertainment and BNC.
