NEW YORK (RocketTown Records) - Watermark's Christy Nockels scored her first Female Vocalist of the Year nomination today as the Gospel Music Association announced the nominees for the 36th annual Dove Awards. Nominated for four Dove Awards this year, this is Nockels' first appearance in the Female Vocalist category though she has long been known as an exemplary talent with a voice Charlie Peacock calls 'stunning.' Overall, Rocketown garnered 15 nominations in the announcement today. Watermark's The Purest Place received attention in the Inspirational album category as the duo's Nathan Nockels also got a second nomination as the producer of that album. (Nathan Nockels was also lauded as a producer of Phillips Craig & Dean's Let the Worshippers Arise and the Passion Hymns Ancient and Modern album, giving him four total nods as well.) New artist Taylor Sorensen welcomed his first nomination as The Overflow joined the list for Modern Rock Album, and veteran Chris Rice added to his long list of achievements with a nomination for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year for 'Untitled Hymn(Come to Jesus).' The Gloria Christmas album brought home the lion's share of nominations as the CD was noted in the Special Event Album category, offering a special nod to each of the artists on the project including Rocketown's Ginny Owens, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Christy Nockels, Christine Dente, Shaun Groves, George Rowe, Sorensen and Alathea.
