New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Ron Sexsmith has today announced the initial dates for his world-wide concert tour in support of his forthcoming album, 'Long Player Late Bloomer.' Beginning with a few scattered U.S. dates in February, the tour kicks off in earnest in March in North
America before heading to
Europe in late April.
'Long Player Late Bloomer' will be released on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. A very special limited edition of the album is now available for pre-order at www.RonSexsmith.com. This must-have limited edition collectible of the album includes the CD of Long Player Late Bloomer as well as a DVD comprised of the CMT Canada TV specials "Late Bloomer Long Player" (includes tracks not seen on the broadcast) and "Dakota Sessions." The package also includes a Ron Sexsmith lithograph. The first 200 fans ordering the package will receive signed lithographs. Fans also have the option of pre-ordering the CD alone or Vinyl with a bonus CD. With all pre-orders, fans will instantly receive an MP3 of the track "Get In Line."
Produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi and Michael Buble), Long Player Late Bloomer was recorded in Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver during the winter of 2010. The album features a star-studded cast of musicians backing up Ron in the studio, including guitarist Rusty Anderson (Paul McCartney), bassist Paul Bushnell (Elton John, No Doubt), keyboardist Jamie Edwards (Aimee Mann) and drummer Josh Freese (Devo, Nine Inch Nails).
Over the course of his 12 album career, Ron Sexsmith has become revered around the world as one of the finest songwriters working in contemporary music. Ron's songwriting is very much front and centre of the new film "Love Shines." The documentary, directed by Douglas Arrowsmith, takes us inside the studio as Ron and Bob Rock craft the music that would make up 'Late Bloomer Long Player.' The movie, which premiered to rave reviews at the Vancouver International Film Festival in October 2010, is an exploration of Ron as a songwriter and includes interviews with Steve Earle, Elvis Costello, Feist and Daniel Lanois among others. One of the films emotional highlights come when Ron wins the much-coveted 2004 Juno Award for Best Songwriter for the song "Whatever It Takes." Shot in the living room of his mother's St. Catharines home, the film captures the unbridled joy and pride as she watches her son on TV as he mounts the stage to receive his trophy.
