LONDON, UK (Marc Almond Fans Website) - British singer Marc Almond is currently recovering from head injuries due to a motorcycle accident that happened in London on Sunday. The 47-year-old singer has been is in critical condition at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

A spokesman from the City of London police said, "There was a serious collision between a car and a motorcycle in London Sunday afternoon and the motorcycle passenger, Marc Almond, suffered severe injuries."

Marc Almond was a part of the group Soft Cell that was formed in 1980 along with Dave Ball. They were known as pioneers of pop music based on synthesizers and a fusion of goth, disco and a variety of avant-garde influences. Their most popular single, "Tainted Love" was a cover of a soul classic and became a super hit in Britain and in the United States.
The group then split up in 1984 and Almond continued his pursuits in the genre of electronica music. They recently reunited in 2002 for a tour to promote their album, "The Very Best of Soft Cell.".
