DETROIT (Big Block Records) - Detroit's No1 rap group, Street Lord'z a.k.a. Cheddar Boy'z, are rising amid Detroit's flourishing underground rap scene. Independently selling an impressive 30,000 units of their debut album, "The Rollies Don't Tick Tock," gave the group local recognition and respect among the hip-hop community. Their new CD, "Platinum Masterpiece," set for release next month, includes a more professional sound and is expected to exceed prior sales.

From the time they were grouped together in 1991, the Lord'z have been actively promoting their music. While doing shows in Detroit and Atlanta with Cash Money Records in 2000, opening for Jay-Z, Redman, E-40 and Beanie Sigel in Detroit and doing several shows with Too $hort in 1999, the Lord'z continue to grow in Detroit and beyond.

Their cutting-edge music, not only portrays the ghetto realities of Detroit, but also describes the opportunities of a hustler in the Motor City. The Lord'z write lyrics pertaining to their personal experiences and therefore many inner city residents can relate to their struggle of coming from nothing to slowly acquiring success.
'Our lyrics depict the true Detroit, representing everyone struggling to make something out of nothing in the ghetto,' said Juan of the Street Lord'z.

Although the Detroit rap scene is gradually developing with artists such as Eminen, E-Dubb and Esham, the Lord'z have a distinct sound unlike any other out of the Motor City. While collaborating with major hip-hop celebrities including Young Buck of 50 Cent's G-Unit; Shyne from P. Diddy's clique; Baby a.k.a. The Birdman, Juvenile of Cash Money Records; BG of Chopper City Records; Too $hort and E-40, this crew brings together a mixture of rap styles to take Detroit's sound to the next level.

Big Block Records, Detroit's No 1 Independent Record Label, is the leading and fastest-growing independent label in the inner city. Developed in 1991, Big Block Records feature artists in such music genres as Hip-Hop, R&B and Alternative Rock. With drive and focus, Big Block Records' mission is to advance Detroit's sound and make it known and distinct across the world.
