Dorf's Carnegie Hall tribute concerts have become one of the must-see events of the NYC live music season. Previous sold-out concerts have honored the music of Paul Simon, Prince, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, R.E.M., Neil Young, The Who and The Rolling Stones. Last year's sold-out show included performances from Mike Gordon (Phish), Heart, Josh Ritter, and Judy Collins. One of the highlights of 2012's tribute to Prince was a rare NYC appearance by D'Angelo, backed by house band The Roots. Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. have also performed for unannounced encores in their own tributes.

The annual fundraiser has remained focused on important education programs provided by organizations such as Young Audiences New York, Little Kids Rock, Church Street School of Music, Mr. Holland's Opus and Grammy in the Schools.

Dorf is uniquely suited to create the impressive and eclectic rosters he assembles each year as a founder of two seminal NYC music venues: the Knitting Factory, which he started in 1987 and sold in 2002, and City Winery, which he founded in 2008 in NYC and now has locations in Chicago, Napa and Nashville. He has over 27 years of live programming for stages across the globe.

Working alongside Michael for the past 8 years is Shlomo Lipetz, City Winery's National Programming Director who overseeing the company's four current locations. As well, Ed Greer continues to be the Stage Production Manager of the series from inception.
