Verboten June 2014 Lineup
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Plexi PR) Verboten swings into summer, heating up the dancefloor with a stellar June lineup that brings the likes of Nosaj Thing, Martyn, Worthy, Maya Jane Coles, and Paco Osuna, plus indie dance series Zeitgeist with Moon Boots, Bag Raiders, The Juan Maclean, and many more to Brooklyn's newest clubbing hotspot. Verboten also continues its successful Sunday DJ Brunch series, offering delicious brunch fare every Sunday alongside track selections from Lee Curtiss, jozif, Yousef, Signal Flow, Fritz (from Azari & III) and more.

June 1 Sunday DJ Brunch: Lee Curtiss / jozif / Garrett Belschner
"With only a couple months under their belt, the long-time NYC party promoters behind the business have established a world class venue, top-notch programming and production, and most recently, the announcement of their long awaited Sunday DJ Brunch. This new schedule is Brooklyn's own answer to off-hours clubbing at international hotspots like Berghain and Barcelona's recently closed ElRow." - THUMP

Master of the sensual synth, sensitive, pop-inflected songwriter, and all-round label visionary, Lee Curtiss knows how to straddle the dance industry's many contradictions, in the process releasing hits as exquisitely crafted and mentally twisted as they are in global demand.

London based Jozif has made the rounds with his quirky and impossible to pigeonhole beats. Loose drum patterns, dramatic strings and brass are tinged with slomo ambience and a rolling undercurrent of funk; depicting a soundtrack all of his own that not only resonates with our musical heart strings but evokes the dirtiest bump and grit of a twisted 6am dance floor. An artist who himself refuses to define or describe his sound and rightly so, the music plays testament to the fact that it is there to be heard and felt, not labeled.

June 6 Nosaj Thing / Martyn / Sebastian Tamayo / Eduardo Castillo
Nosaj Thing's highly acclaimed debut album, 'Drift', topped countless Best Of Year Lists, but last year, the producer, musician and DJ from Los Angeles started a chapter with a new album, label and imprint for Innovative Leisure. 2013's album Home marked the first time Nosaj incorporated guest vocalists. Having remixed and worked with the likes of The XX, Flying Lotus, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Beck & Kendrick Lamar, it was time to incorporate a few collaborations of his own with Toro y Moi and Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead) providing ethereal vocals for two of the tracks on Home. The rest of the album is rounded with Nosaj's signature cinematic soundscapes that explore the space from where Drift left off.

Martyn's unique strand of bass defies easy categorization. Yet no matter the genre, tempo or drum pattern, there always remains that immersive, intricately detailed and rhythmically precise sound: to his fans and admirers, it's known simply as 'Martyn Music.' A unique character that's become emblematic for all that's forward thinking in dubstep and techno, a defiant out-of-the-box mentality is pushed into his every artistic venture, side-stepping convention and continually stepping forward towards what's new. Or, more often than not, what's next.

June 7 Till von Sein / Italoboyz / Nicola Zanatta
Alongside his trademark sound, Till von Sein exudes an aura of noble grandeur mixed with the genuine enthusiasm of a child with a favorite toy when he's busy in the DJ booth. But Till von Sein's toy, which in this case is house and its countless derivatives, won't ever end up forgotten in the corner. Long after the wrapping paper has been thrown away, what Till von Sein loves has yet to lose its magic. For Till von Sein, the sound of an 808 clap triggers a state of ecstasy, which in his hands emerges as pure euphoria on the dance floor. Time and again, his thumping transitions and heart-racing sets send listeners into overdrive, revealing the very core of house, soul and techno, while hitting on just what makes these genres so exciting.

Since arriving in London at the beginning of the new millennium, Italoboyz, aka Marco Donato and Federico Marton, have become an essential fixture of the capital's small but passionate house/techno/minimal scene. From their notorious back-to-back DJ sets at FESH (333, London), their reputation has grown to the point where they can now be found playing regularly across the planet. However, it's not just the energy and flair of their DJ sets that has captured the imagination, Italoboyz releases now on some of today's most influential minimal-house / techno labels like Mothership and Get Physical, after starting to work in 2005/2006 with label like Treibstoff, Einmaleins Musik, Gumption and Safari Electronique.

June 8 Sunday DJ Brunch: Yousef / Cause: Effect / Down Deep
Having been at the forefront of dance music fan's attentions across the globe since the latter stages of the last century, Yousef is an artist that continues to evolve and develop with consummate ease. New sounds, new developments and new frontiers; they all remain an instrumental part of his thrust forward as one the planet's leading underground house music tastemakers.

June 12 Zeitgeist: Moon Boots / Perseus / Plastic Plates
Moon Boots has been traveling the world finding solace in the soothing sounds of underground disco and R&B boogie records, taking Verboten on a galactic groove ride this month.

Perseus keeps the vibe right with a cache of dreamy music on hand at all times. His eclectic, genre expansive sets win fans over by never going too crazy and always staying right on sight, keeping the nu-disco sound on lock.

Plastic Plates is the disco/house music alias of Los Angeles producer and music extraordinaire Felix Bloxsom whose millions of plays on Soundcloud and regular appearances in the Hype Machine top 10 elevates his popularity around the world.

June 13 Worthy / Christian Martin / City Living Showcase
When it comes down to all the press and hype, his name says it all. He is Worthy. With an in-depth knowledge of production, mixing, and performance, Worthy has the insight to play for his audience, cultivating intense positive energy on the dance floor that can only be portrayed as superhuman. His sound can be described as organic breakbeats with a mix of future house, 80's, booty bass, and techno. As Carl Cox said, "The Worthy sound has always been powerful, rocking, funky, bass-driven music at its best, and for me this is the new wave in house music." Worthy has received the recognition of major producers who have played his tracks including Sven Vath, Diplo, and Richie Hawtin, among many.

Christian Martin's love affair with electronic music began in 1995, as an early attendee at Southern California's legendary Moontribe full moon desert parties. After absorbing late 90's club life in New York, London, and Los Angeles, Christian settled in San Francisco in the spring of 2000. He started playing records in 2002 under the tutelage of his brother, Justin Martin, armed with a stack of Justin's old vinyl and used Technics 1200's from Sammy D. In 2003, inspired by the massive desert soundsystems of old, Christian founded the Dirtybird soundsystem, along with co-founders Justin Martin, Worthy, and Claude VonStroke.

June 14 Zeitgeist + Night People: Bag Raiders / Bixel Boys / Human Life / Eli Escobar / Blu Jemz / Lloydski
Bag Raiders are the combined talents of Jack Glass and Chris Stracey. Together, they produce the sparks of light, aural gems and sonic booms that make up one of the most sought-after duos on the planet. After dropping singles on Bang Gang 12s (Fun Punch, Turbo Love) and remixing the likes Cut Copy, Midnight Juggernauts and Kid Sister, the two's reputation internationally grew, and when they released a little ditty titled 'Shooting Stars' they reached every dangerous, dark and smoky corner of the world, making them a household name among in-the-know indie kids, the sweaty dance faithful and the DJs across the globe.

Night People is the club night founded by Eli Escobar, Blu Jemz, and Lloydski. Its a night of dance and love for all genres and styles. Good vibes are principle at Night People and they aim to keep fans dancing throughout the whole night whether it be to disco, techno, or straight acid house.

June 15 Sunday DJ Brunch: Touch of Class Showcase: Signal Flow [Ray Zuniga] / Johny Cruz / Pattern Drama
Signal Flow is a live electronic DJ and production duo featuring San Francisco's own Michael Tello of PillowTalk and Ray Zuniga. Originally from Los Angeles, the label mates migrated north to San Francisco and now live bi-coastal in NYC and Los Angeles allowing the opportunity to build a strong music network and expand the Touch of Class Records family worldwide. Michael and Ray began their musical collaboration six years ago, giving birth to the innovative partnership that is Signal Flow. Their international profile has risen quickly. With gigs at Berlin's best nightclubs and Robot Heart Burning Man, 2013 additionally saw the duo playing across the globe at other hotspots in London, Mexico and Ecuador having quickly made a name for their eclectic sound and energy.

June 19 System of Survival / House On Mute / Mike Palladino
Dedicated purveyors of all that is good in house music, System of Survival are Pietro 'Bingo' De Lisi and Alex Carpentieri, and have been resident DJs at that bastion of underground Ibiza, Circo Loco, since the party first began over decade ago. Living, playing, producing and releasing material together since '89 in Italy, they were amongst the first DJs brought by promoters Antonio & Andreas, to reside in Ibiza at DC10, and have since mastered the main room, terrace and car park with equal ease. Their ability to carry a crowd, blend seamlessly between styles and fill in the gaps around the countless guests that they have supported is true testament to the role of a resident, and has led to them flying the Circo Loco flag throughout the years and across the globe.

House On Mute began its life as a quasi-religious organization (often falsely derided as a cult) in an unmarked Manhattan cellar. Down an elevator, then down a hallway, and finally past a guard, the lucky few found an altar of worship (a greasy stripper pole). It was in the so called "DJ booth" above that "stripper pole" where Cry Baby performed the first of many rituals that would mark her most recent time on our plane. Soon after, throngs of worshipers arrived, and kept arriving, until there wasn't room to house them any longer. Around this time, ordained euphorians Daniel Orestes and Adam Collins, and cosmic shaman Abraham Othwell took time off from astrally projecting themselves to other universes in need and focused their immediate and unconscious energies on providing disgusting basslines for the sea of newly initiated followers. A dark union was forged and it's been a bumping ride since.

June 20 Maya Jane Coles / George Fitzgerald / Alex Arnout
Maya Jane Coles is somewhat of an enigma in today's music world; on a typical Maya Jane Coles record, Maya will have written, produced, engineered, arranged, mixed and performed every element of the track; sometimes top-lining and, on most occasions, even designing the sleeve artwork too. Life has been changing quite dramatically for the British-Japanese, producer/DJ; having recently released her biggest body of work to date -- her debut album, 'Comfort' -- things look set to keep on changing.

All the best producers have hallmarks, and George Fitzgerald's are evident in his measurement, his awareness of light and space and his use of searing chord lines. With releases on Hotflush, Aus, and his own imprint, ManMakeMusic, his productions combine with exceptional style and grace both the warmer, melodic sides of house and garage with the more heated, pounding drum patterns of dubstep and techno.

June 21 Paco Osuna // Bespoke: el_Txef_a / Bedouin
Imagination, courage, and the incessant search for new forms of expression in the stormy affairs of techno are some of the main virtues of Paco Osuna. Through devotion and vocation, the technocratic DJ and producer has become one of the primary architects in the development of the best, most exportable, electronic music from Spain. He is also the ideas-man behind Mindshake Records. His current international renown has come about through much hard work with techno; and now he can be considered one of the most sought after international artists on the planet today.

Now is the time for Aitor Etxebarria, better known as El_Txef_A to expose his innermost feelings, as he's already begun to on releases from labels like Permanent Vacation, Suol or Pets Recordings. This time, he is undoubtedly on his best of form. Aitor, born and raised in the Basque Country, is in that group of artists sparingly measuring their output, always searching for the new, aiming for high quality instead of constant, monotonous releases. After years of dedicated work, El_Txef_A announces his debut album 'Slow Dancing In A Burning Room.' El_Txef_A stands for a specific and complex sound signature. His primary concern is to develop a sound that people can identify with as well as just simply enjoy freely.

June 22 Sunday DJ Brunch: Maayan Nidam / Vera / nANdo / Nicola Zanatta
Just when you think you have her figured out, Maayan Nidam is the kind of artist that will switch up on you and charge off in a whole new direction. Stylistically her music has always orbited house and techno, but within that broad tapestry her labyrinth back catalogue reveals myriad shades and methods that make for an artist not to be underestimated.

June 26 Zeitgeist: The Juan Maclean
Since the turn of the 21st century, DFA club music maestro The Juan MacLean has been laying groundwork. First, there were killer singles, from "By The Time I Get to Venus" in 2002, to international mega hit of 2008 "Happy House" as well as the "The Simple Life". There was a debut full-length ('Less Than Human', 2005); remixes for colleagues like Air, Yoko Ono, Daft Punk, David Gahan, Franz Ferdinand; international tours with Cut Copy and Shocking Pinks, and DJ gigs from Telluride to Tel Aviv. In April 2009 came the second album, 'The Future Will Come' - a more pop inspired collaboration with DFA mainstay Nancy Whang. The next stop on the journey was 2010's Juan MacLean DJ KiCKS mix CD. True to the series' standard, it was selected by DJ Magazine as the #1 essential mix of 2010. Juan's expert take on pure house music (re) introduced house to a new generation of dance music fans such that the genre's popularity has risen to new heights. 2014 sees the first new The Juan MacLean album in five years. Think. Epic.

June 27 Safer at Night + Trouble & Bass: J Phlip / Zombie Disco Squad / Ardalan / Curses / Champion / Shox / Star Eyes / Doctor Jeep
J Phlip discovered house music in her hometown of Champaign, Illinois, just 2 hours south of Chicago. Her proximity to Chicago's famous house scene tremendously affected her sound, but the distance afforded her the freedom to incorporate a variety of other influences into her repertoire. Her sets posses a fun, "lets-not-forget-this-is-dance-music," feeling and simultaneously keeps you guessing about what might come next. Her collection spans house, tech house, deep house, techno, booty bass and pretty much anything that make you shake your ass.

June 28 Susanne Bartsch presents Kunst
Susanne Bartsch is New York City's patron saint of transformation and inclusion. The parties she's thrown for three decades—from Paris to Tokyo—have provided a venue for countless creative souls and "creatures" to express themselves, come together and forget the hum-drum of the everyday. Launching in 1987, her weekly parties became the place to see and be seen for a trendsetting group of New Yorkers and ushered in a new era in nightlife, one that mixed uptown and downtown, gay and straight, chic and street. Susanne has become notorious for the beautiful, strange, and outlandishly dressed people who flock to her events. The colorful crowds have followed her for 3 decades and still gather at her current weekly bashes in New York and special events around the world.

June 29 Sunday DJ Brunch: Fritz [from Azari & III]
Fritz (from the former music outfit Azari & III) keeps the weekend party vibes going with his expert track selections at Verboten's Sunday DJ brunch.
