Jana Lahti Sparks A Wildfire With Powerfully Restrained Indie Interludes
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ WiFi-PR Group) Riding the success of their debut album The Oak/Ivory Collection EP (2012) and "Wildfire" single (March 2013), Whistler and Squamish, BC-based indie trio Jana Lahti (named for the group's featured vocalist) is poised to deliver a distinct, minimalist blend of acoustic electronica that aims to connect with their audience on a deep and personal level.

They've been compared to the likes of Feist, Portishead and Bonobo as well as their very own influences, including Lykki Li and Bon Iver. They also draw on elements of classic vocalists like Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and the Beatles, among others.

Peaceful is one word to describe this indie effort. Muted instrumentation backs the cool, sweet samplings of Jana's powerfully restrained voice. The lyrics are poignant and colorful and equally share the spotlight with the voice that delivers them. Gentle melodic stylings from guitar and synthesizers combine with light, looped percussion to become the tender backdrop that enshrines the acoustic electronica persona their music takes on.

Jana Lahti's single "Wildfire" can be heard on WiFi PR Group's Indie Anthems Vol. 2. It's a quiet, haunting track full of Jana's smooth, fluttering lyrics over hushed guitar melodies and basic, rhythmic percussion. It's a look inward at the soul of the singer and the bared soul of the band's music overall. With "Wildfire," they showcase the beauty of simplicity while leaving the indelible impression of a moving indie anthem. For another crafty take on this tune, check out the Swedish DJ Nils Rinnefeldt remix on their Soundcloud at: https://soundcloud.com/janalahti/wildfire-nils-rinnefeldt-remix

Jana has a long history of love, art and relationships to draw from. Her musical journey began with singing in the shower and her youth group band as a youngster and progressed to music school, bands and finally starting her own musical projects. And music is not her only artistic passion.

She also dabbles in photography, painting, clothing and furniture up-cycling.

Her bandmates Bradley Nichols (bass, synth, percussion/beats) and Jeremy Royal (Guitar, synth, looping & FX pedals, percussion) also have a deep background in music and music production.

Surrounded by music a majority of his life, Brad has involved himself in many different bands, media and videography projects and has learned to play just about any instrument. Jeremy has also been in several bands and shows a true mastery of his instruments, though his main passion lies with actually recording and producing music.

Over the past decade, Jana has been involved in a number of different projects. In 2007, she lived with Spencer Trent (of the Mowgli's) and family during an internship with Trent's father, Trent Dean.

In 2008, she collaborated with international DJ Andrea Graham aka The Librarian for a performance at the Pemberton Festival in Pemberton, BC.

In 2010 and 2011, she played acoustic and electronica sets at the forward-thinking electronic music festival Bass Coast Project in Merritt, BC, which was a perfect fit for the music that she creates today. Her song "Dirt & Blood" was used in Andrea Helleman's video, "Changes," for Whistler, BC's 72-Hour Film Festival. She is currently collaborating with Nils Rinnefeldt, DJ Praiz and The Librarian on various projects.

Jana Lahti's music is available via iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Rdio, bandcamp and through downloads on their Soundcloud, among other music streaming sites.
