New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - After celebrating their 30th anniversary last year, beloved rockers Huey Lewis and the News are hitting the road again this summer for a coast-to-coast tour. Things kick off July 8th in Westport, CT, where the band will perform at the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts before working their way through 30 dates across the U.S. and Canada. Lewis and the band sport a legendary live show, with an infectious blend of rock and roll, R&B, and soul that the New York Times has called "impeccably refined and spirited."
Huey Lewis and the News-featuring Lewis on lead vocals and harmonica, Johnny Colla on saxophone, Bill Gibson on drums, Sean Hopper on keyboards, John Pierce on bass, Stef Burns on guitar, Marvin McFadden on trumpet, Rob Sudduth on tenor sax, and Johnnie Bamont on baritone sax-recently traveled to Memphis to record their first new album in nine years. Release details will be revealed soon. Lewis will also make a guest appearance as - what else?! - a rock and roll musician, in an upcoming episode of the new TV Land original series 'Hot in Cleveland,' which stars Betty White, Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli, and Jane Leeves.
Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, Huey Lewis and the News play a brand of straight-ahead rock and roll that has outlasted countless trends, selling over 20 million albums and earning two Grammy Awards along the way. The group still performs around 100 shows a year, including a recent July 4th performance at the U.S. Capitol before an audience of more than half a million. Lewis has enjoyed recent success on screen and stage as well, performing in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical 'Chicago' and making a memorable guest appearance earlier this year on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
