Sydney, AU (Universal Music Australia) - Katherine Jenkins album LIVING A DREAM has debuted in the ARIA album charts at No 19. LIVING A DREAM also comfortably took the No 1 spot on the Classical album charts. Katherine's Australian promotional visit last week included performances on Sunrise and Mornings With Kerri-Anne. She also left behind a trail of admirers as she charmed her way into some of the hearts of our most seasoned media personalities including Alan Jones, Bob Rogers, Ernie Sigley and more! The week prior to her arrival Katherine Jenkins won the prestigious Album of the Year Award for Living A Dream at the Classical Brits in London. This is the second year in a row she won this award, having taken it out in 2005 with her debut album Premiere' She is now the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical Brits and is the UK's biggest-selling classical artist of all time after notching up sales of 1.5 million in less than two years. Living A Dream is her third UK album. A highlight on this album is her Classicalised' version of I Will Always Love You, a global mega –smash for Whitney Houston, though written by Dolly Parton. 'I love Whitney Houston and I love that song,' Katherine said. 'I could really hear it as a classical piece, so I had an orchestral accompaniment put to it and I translated it into Italian. Dolly Parton has never allowed anyone to sing it in a foreign language before, so it's a great honour for me.' Katherine Jenkins is a former school teacher from Neath, who, in 2004 at the age of 23, signed the biggest deal in classical recording history and became the fastest-selling female opera singer since Maria Callas. Katherine Jenkins is also the Wales rugby team's mascot and sings the national anthem at most of the team's internationals. She has recorded the Welsh team's official song, a version of Bread Of Heaven backed by a 100-piece male voice choir. KATHERINE JENKINS debut album LIVING A DREAM IS is out now.
