Biography
The Broken Circle Breakdown is the new film by Felix van Groeningen. The film is based on the theatre play with the same name by Johan Heldenbergh and Mieke Dobbels, with which they filled all manner of church halls, public houses and cultural centres.
The Broken Circle Breakdown is van Groeningen’s fourth full-length film after Steve+Sky (2004), With Friends Like These (2007) and The Misfortunates (2009). This latest film also gave Felix international recognition after it was selected in Cannes (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, 2009). The film was the Flemish movie hit of 2009 - 2010 (465,000 visitors) and won several prizes and nominations, both nationally and internationally. The visitor numbers in France and the Netherlands were particularly noteworthy.
The Broken Circle Breakdown is a production by Menuet. It is van Groeningen’s fourth collaboration with producer Dirk Impens. The film is distributed by Kinepolis Film Distribution and is expected in theatres on 10 October 2012.
Bjorn Eriksson (Zita Swoon, Laish, Admiral Freebee ...) also wrote new arrangements for all songs. With a stiff band led by Bjorn Eriksson and of course with flying colors roles for Johan Heldenbergh and Veerle Baetens. Need we say more?
