LOS ANGELES (www.lamusicawards.com) - The 14th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards are all set for Thursday, November 18th beginning at 6:30 p.m. Some of the big highlights for 2004 will include the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Trevor Rabin, whose work as a film score composer on the Lord of the Rings trilogy helped it earn Best Picture at the 2004 Academy Awards.
This year's main event will also honor Gina Gershon, whose portrayal of a struggling Hollywood band singer in the feature film Prey For Rock n' Roll, earned her the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Feature Film About Music.

Jack Black will receive the same award for his portrayal of Dewey Finn, the aspiring rock star in the hit movie School of Rock. Also being presented at the event will be a posthumous award to J.J. Jackson, who did the very first MTV broadcast in 1981 and was one of the original MTV VJ's along with Mark Goodman, Mart! ! ha Quinn, Nina Blackwood and Allen Hunter. Presenting that award will be Jim Ladd of rock radio station KLOS, who was perhaps J.J.'s best friend.

Other highlights include 20 categories of musical awards for L.A.'s most popular independent talent. There are a total of 60 local nominee artists and bands. The main event will last from 7:30 to 10:50 p.m. The event After Party starts at 11:00 p.m. and goes until 2:00 a.m.
