BIRMINGHAM. AL. (Wordz & Rhythmz/ www.wordzandrhythmz.com/ Floodland Recordings) - The Christian tide is high and media predicts a heavenly flood watch. Are you prepared?
On Tuesday, January 18th, Christian record label, Floodland Recordings, LLC, will open its flood gates to debut the album, "2 Die Is Gain," by its newest artist, Toussaint. This highly-anticipated project, which is a breathtaking fusion of creative hip-hop rhythms and powerfully-penned rhymes, will not disappoint avid hip-hop fans. But even more, it will unconventionally usher those seeking fulfillment into the arms and presence of the Lord.
Under the umbrella of a talented production team, led by Floodland Recordings founder, Derek Farrior, "2 Die Is Gain" humbly boasts 18 tracks featuring phenomenal cuts such as the album's first single, the Asian/Reggae-flavored "Roll With Christ," the R&B-tinged "It's Gotta Be Love," the infectious baby-bopper "Thank God," the thrilling Rocky-inspired "K.O.," the move-you-to-tears call to worship "We Give Glory" and the thought-provoking and foreboding "No Ordinary Day." And it would be remiss not to mention the engaging interludes, such as the comedic interaction between Toussaint and "Mr. World," portrayed by Farrior.
"Our goal in producing Gospel music is to speak to the youth without being preachy,' said Farrior, who is the CEO of the Birmingham-based label. "We've found that pushing the Word of God to the younger crowd is more effective when we take the stance of been-there-done-that, because we have and we're keeping it real."
The start of Floodland Recordings was marked in 2002 when the label released a profanity-free compilation CD of performances by local singers and rap artists. What followed was the release of a Gospel rap album in 2003 titled "Strick City 24/7." With a renewed vision and mission for Floodland Recordings, Farrior and his team hit the ground running in 2004 and have professed success in 2005.
"2 Die Is Gain" features guest artists such as Wordz & Rhythmz founder and poet, LaShanna R. Price, the soulful ripples of vocalists Fernando Richardson and Tameka Carr, and will be available for purchase on January 18th.
Floodland Recordings and Galilee Baptist Church are also sponsoring the album release celebration at Galilee Baptist Church, which is located at 1231 24th Street N., Birmingham, AL 35234 on Saturday, January 22, 2004 at 7:30 PM.
