HOLLYWOOD, CA. (The Recording Academy) - The Recording Academy has teamed up with Capitol Records to release the 2005 GRAMMY Nominees CD, the 11th edition in the best-selling series that honors many of the year's GRAMMY-nominated artists and songs. This year's compilation - due in stores nationwide on Feb. 1 - encompasses some of the year's best music and features nominated songs and artists from several major categories. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will benefit music-related charities including the Academy's MusiCares Foundation and the GRAMMY Foundation.

The disc contains many of the most widely recognized GRAMMY categories. The 21 tracks from the 2005 GRAMMY Nominees CD represent nominees from the Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal , and Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group categories. The nominee CD is made possible by a special arrangement with all of the major music distribution companies and rotates from year to year. "The 11th edition of our GRAMMY Nominees CDs represents some of the important artists and songs that make up this year's remarkable and diverse group of nominees," said The Recording Academy President Neil Portnow. "We thank Capitol Records for its collaboration on this project, which will provide much needed support for the invaluable programs and initiatives of our GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares Foundation."

The 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 13, 2005 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast in High Definition TV and 5.1 Surround Sound on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (EST/PST). The show also will be supported on radio via Westwood One worldwide, and covered online at GRAMMY.com.
