NEW YORK (Stereotype Records/ www.stereotyperecords.com) - Stereotype Records announced today a promotional campaign to entice anyone in its demographic - basically, music fans looking for a little substance in their adult post punk - to submit email addresses and enter a contest. This is pretty standard stuff for independent labels, alt rags, and small companies everywhere. The difference here is that Stereotype wants to give the fan something for their effort.

The year-old record collective has commissioned one of its artists, Rick Stone to record two previously unreleased cover songs: Never Stop by Echo and the Bunnymen and Roxy Music's In Every Dream Home a Heartache. Working this campaign to expand its email list, get a little exposure, and actually give something back to music fans, Stereotype is giving everyone who enters the contest these two downloads for free. Here are the contest details:

Grand Prize:
One month into the New Year, January 31st, 2005, a Stereotype representative will draw 2 names out of the hopper, and each will get a full Stereotype Records catalog.

Catalogue Includes:
Bandwidth - Knee Jerk Reaction
Rockandrollspidermanbasketball - Mission to Mars
State of Matter - Knee Jerk Reaction
Lasterday - Mission to Mars
Turn Me On, Turn Me Out - Rick Stone

Downloads:
Part of the movement that redesigned post-punk, Echo & the Bunnymen has always been a favorite of Rick's, and we think you will love his version of this great 80s pop song. On the AA side, Rick applies his emo-boy croon to the slow and sinister build of In Every Dream Home a Heartache by Roxy Music, reaching all the way back to 1973 for this unconventional song.
Download today, and hear another twist on these two seminal and influential tunes.

"It's true that Stereotype Records wants more email address," says Stereotype's Chief Marketing Officer, Eric Holden, but instead of just entering and having a chance to win, we want them to get something cool in exchange. And to show them what great artists we have in our stables."

Stereotype will advertise this contest guerilla-marketing style through Internet posts like craigslist.org and, of course, to its email list. And, as always, all Stereotype releases are streamable at its website www.stereotyperecords.com.
