BRISTOL, UK (NRK Records/ www.nrkmusic.com) - NRK can exclusively reveal plans for our special 100th release in February 2005. We've dug through the NRK vaults and offered a host of top name producers/remixers to select their favorite tracks and offer up a 2005 rework or edit of the original recordings. We've selected the top two remixes and top two edits, and these will make up a special two 12' set with the catalogue number NRK100. Other remixes and edits from the sessions will appear throughout the year on various formats.
Ian Pooley, who has recorded for NRK since the very early days, remixes the classic Miguel Migs track, 'Petalpushing'. Miguel, meanwhile, has taken the Joey Negro Akabu cut, 'The Way', and turned it into a bumpin' garage house workout of epic proportions.
Peace Division's monumental Beatz iN Peacez 03 (What Is This Sound?) gets the re-edit treatment from the superb King Unique, whilst Pete Heller has constructed an amazing edit of the Danny Teneglia favorite 'An Eye For An Eye' by Sirus.
NRK the label was formed in 1997 by Nick Harris & Redg Weeks, rising from the NRK DJ Agency which represented a Who's Who of international DJ talent. Over the last 7 years NRK have released material the likes of Nick Holder, H-Foundation, Dimitri From Paris, Peace Division, Miguel Migs, Audio Soul Project, Francois K, Joey Negro, Ian Pooley, Plastic Avengers, Kings Of Tomorrow to name but a few.
NRK have also been at the forefront of many of the shifting patterns in house music over the last few years. The NRK repertoire has helped expose the French house sound, the West Coast house scene, the jazzier end of the spectrum, and the tribal/tech sounds of recent years. In 2000, NRK launched both the (recently departed) nite:life mix CD series, and our sister label, Honchos Music, dedicated to the trackier end of the music spectrum.
NRK 100 will be released in early February 2005 on 12', CD and digital download. This landmark release will help shape our release schedule for 2005, which includes albums from Magik Johnson, David Alvarado and Rulers Of The Deep, new singles from Hipp-E (H-Foundation) and others, and a couple of special mix CDs. Honchos Music rolls into 2005 with new material from, amongst others, Paolo Mojo and Trackheadz (a new project from Nick Holder).
