NEW YORK (Fastline Records) - Fastlife Records announces the release of the self-titled debut album of "The Killer Meters" on March 8th. The Killer Meters are the brain-child of Scenario producer Sparo (Virgil Howe), and the group is a straight-up funked-up live band specializing the sound of - you guessed it - The Meters. Alongside James Brown, The Meters virtually defined the funk genre since their inception in New Orleans in the late '60s, and influenced generations of music makers, from the Rolling Stones (who they toured with through the '70s) to today's generation of hip hop stars. The lasting appeal of their music was demonstrated by the enthusiasm that has been generated by The Killer Meters live shows - prompting the decision to cut a limited 7" single, then a full-length album of re-rubbed Meters classics. The blinding first single "Just Kissed My Baby" (featuring Krime Kendra and released on now-deleted 7" vinyl) is included on the album, alongside a selection of the heaviest Meters cuts, all perennial favorites of funk fans, hip hop heads and plain music lovers alike. The tracklisting is: 1. Sophisticated Cissy 2. Cissy Strut 3. Just Kissed My Baby 4. Handclapping Song 5. 9 to 5 6. Cardova 7. Ease Back 8. Same Old Thing 9. Tippie Toes 10. Rigormortis
