NASHVILLE, TN. (Dallas 96.7 announcement) - Ask any college student in Dallas what class they enjoy the most, and you're most likely hear ' Texas 101'. The song by Spindletop recording artist hilljack was first played on Dallas's 96.7 The Twister, and soon became a campus favorite at both The University of Texas in Arlington and SMU in Dallas, and is now catching on across the state. The Texas Music Chart, toted by some as the 'cutting edge' chart of country music, debuted the single at 29 when spins jumped up by 27 spins in one week.

Texan's statewide are also keyed up and ready to see hilljack appear live. Firewater Bar & Grill in Dallas has booked the group for a May 12th appearance, and dates in other Texas cities are in negotiation. 'Last year we traveled from coast to coast on tour, but, somehow didn't make it down to Texas,' said hilljack lead vocalist, Paul Jefferson. 'We were in Chicago, Michigan, Colorado, and Kentucky – you name it. We just never made it to Texas. I'm glad that the demand is there for us to appear and get to meet our Texas fans face to face.'

'Texas 101' was written by Johnny Slate, hilljack lead singer Paul Jefferson and Porter Howell and is a single from hilljack's current project Stand-up. Through its tongue-in-cheek lyrics it teaches the listener how to become a real Texan. It covers topics from cowboys and campfires to what one could expect on the notorious 'Willie's' bus.
