NEW YORK (AOL) - AOL
Music will kick off a new year of AOL
Music LIVE! with an exclusive concert by multi-platinum rockers
Simple Plan. The intimate, one night only performance, which will take place on Tuesday, April 5 at Los Angeles' renowned Troubadour, will be broadcast live online at www.aolmusic.com at 11:00 PM ET/8:00 PM PT. In addition to watching the live broadcast, fans can tune in to hear a simultaneous audio broadcast on the AOL
Radio Network or watch the performance on demand for one week following the live event.
"We are extremely proud to be part of the AOL Music LIVE! concert series," said Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan. "It's amazing to think that millions of people all over the world will be able to watch our show live no matter how far away they live or what time zone they are in. Since day one our goal has always been to reach as many people as possible with our music and tours. Now AOL Music LIVE! gives us a fantastic opportunity to offer a free concert to all our fans around the world, and also to be discovered by millions of people who might not have heard of us. We're really stoked to be playing a legendary venue like the Troubadour and we can't wait for the show. It's going to be sick!"
"We are thrilled to have Simple Plan perform for AOL Music LIVE," said Jack Isquith, Executive Director of Music Industry Relations for AOL Music. "Simple Plan has been an AOL success story from day one, building a passionate online audience and we, along with their fans, look forward to seeing them in a historic and intimate venue like the Troubadour."
Building on the successful AOL Music LIVE! concerts of 2004, which include live performances by the likes of Usher, Nelly and Good Charlotte among others, the first AOL Music LIVE! of 2005 is sure to be nothing short of amazing. Recent performances were played more than one million times in a week. Months after the live events, individual original performances from these concerts consistently appear on AOL Music's weekly Top 11 charts, often outpacing the traditional music videos for the same songs. Select AOL Music LIVE! events also air in 2,600 Wal-Mart stores nationwide through AOL's relationship with the world's largest retailer.
Simple Plan is currently gearing up to hit the road with fellow rockers Good Charlotte for what many consider one of the hottest tours this spring. The band is touring in support of their recently released sophomore album, Still Not Getting Any, which has sold over 1 million copies and has garnered critical accolades. The album features the hit, "Welcome to My Life," and their current single, "Shut Up." No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls, Simple Plan's 2002 debut album, which spawned several Top 10 hits including "I'd Do Anything," "Addicted" and "Perfect," has sold over 2 million copies to date.
As part of this special AOL Music LIVE! event, fans are encouraged to donate to Keep a Child Alive (https://www.keepachildalive.org/), an organization dedicated to providing life-saving medicine to children and families with AIDS in Africa.
AOL will make tickets for this special invitation-only event available through giveaways on KISS-FM radio in Los Angeles and through Simple Plan's official fan club.
