NASHVILLE, TN (Carrie Underwood Official Website) - Carrie Underwood's highly anticipated return to touring will resume in April 2006 as she launches a concert schedule currently filled with festivals and fairs. This will be Underwood's first round of touring since the 'American
Idols Live! 2005' 44-city sold-out tour last summer and her debut as the hottest new female artist in country music after launching her double platinum album Some Hearts in November 2005. Over 40 shows are now planned for 2006 April to October with additional dates forth-coming.
'It is so thrilling to be able to get back out and perform for the fans again,' says Underwood. 'We put a band together last year to launch the album with radio and television promotion. We are all itching to get on a bus and really travel across the states and see the real America.'
Underwood, the 2005 American Idol winner, began 2006 with her debut album Some Hearts setting the benchmark for all new artists to follow and made music history as the fastest-selling debut country album. Some Hearts has sold over two million copies since its release and has the separate distinction of becoming the fastest-certified debut country album ever released. The disc's powerful lead single, 'Jesus, Take the Wheel,' reigned at No. 1 for six consecutive weeks on the country singles chart.
