NEW YORK, NY (Black Entertainment Television) - Their lyrical battles and personal feud became more than just hot news in the hip-hop world. The clash of rap impresarios Jay-Z and Nas was legendary. But after five years of opposition, the powerhouse MCs have reconciled under a new alliance. In a ground-breaking BET News Special BEYOND BEEF: JAY-Z & NAS, the two hip-hop superstars open up about the intense conflict; their move toward reconciliation; and what the future holds for them. Hosted by BET News correspondent Toure at BET Studios in New York, this half-hour summit between two of hip hop's strongest personalities premieres tomorrow (Friday, March 3) at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, with encore showings on Saturday, March 4 at 12:30 p.m. ET/PT, and Sunday, March 5 at 8:30 pm. ET/PT.

With the recent signing of Nas to the Def Jam recording label where Jay-Z is President, the former enemies have ended a notorious feud. This turn-of- events is not only significant for hip-hop music, but also impacts the image of Jay-Z and Nas to their millions of fans. How did it all come about? What actually sent the two rappers into this war-like siege? BET News and Toure get to the truth in this uncut conversation that tracks the feud from ignition point to peaceful resolution.

Following are excerpts of the comments from rappers Jay-Z and Nas in BEYOND BEEF premiering tomorrow on BET:
Rapper Jay-Z On How Media May Portray Hip Hop Following His Reconciliation with Nas...

"When they write about hip hop, they write about it a certain way. They write about it like these guys is wild...They really killin' each other. Now they have to write about hip hop in another way."

Rapper Nas On Why Some 'Beefs' Happen in Hip Hop...
"(Artists) whole purpose of beef is to be stars. That was never ours. (Jay-Z) had a career before we did that. I had a career. We didn't need to jumpstart our careers by beefin'. So the artists that do are trying to make their names bigger by beefin'. How can they think about reconciling when they haven't even arrived yet?"
