Brentwood, TN. (Sparrow Records) - Switchfoot has received more hometown props with a nomination for Artist of the Year in the 16th Annual San Diego Music Awards. Public voting is underway, and the awards ceremony—featuring a Switchfoot performance—takes place September 18 at the city's Viejas Casino's Concerts in the Park venue. 'We are always eager to talk about the San Diego music scene simply because lots of our favorite tunes come from right here in our hometown,' explains Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman who calls the band's Artist of the Year nomination 'a real honor.' In past years, Switchfoot has won a total of seven San Diego Music Awards including Best New Artist (1997), Best Pop Band (2001 and 2002), Best Pop Album (LEARNING TO BREATHE in 2002 and THE BEAUTIFUL LETDOWN in 2003), Album of the Year (THE BEAUTIFUL LETDOWN, 2003), and Song of the Year ('Dare You To Move,' 2004). In addition to the 2006 Artist of the Year nomination, the band is also a contender for Album of the Year (NOTHING IS SOUND) and Song of the Year ('Stars'). Switchfoot is now in a San Diego recording studio working on the follow-up to the gold-selling, hugely acclaimed NOTHING IS SOUND. Billboard magazine reports the all-new project is due in stores this November. Learn more at www.Switchfoot.com and check out a great recent concert review here.
