BRASILIA, Brazil (Brazilero Music News) - Brazilian authorities on Thursday ordered Mexican singer Gloria Trevi back to jail, more than six months after she was transferred to a hospital in the capital. Trevi, who is awaiting extradition to Mexico on sexual abuse charges, was moved to a Brasilia hospital in December to give birth to the child she conceived in prison. Trevi gave birth to her son, Angel Gabriel, on Feb. 18, and has remained in the hospital under guard since then. The singer's lawyers appealed the ordered returning her to prison, claiming she had been sexually abused by prison officials. Trevi initially claimed she became pregnant after police raped her in prison. But DNA tests determined the baby's father was her manager Sergio Andrade, who also is facing extradition to Mexico. The judge, however, turned aside the appeal and order Trevi and her son held in the police detention center in Brasilia's Cruzeiro jail. Brazil's Supreme court has approved Mexico's extradition request, but it has been held up by a series of appeals. Trevi, who rose to fame in the 1980s, was arrested in Rio de Janeiro along with Andrade in January 2000 on charges of abducting and raping teen-age girls who were in their care.
