Music Conference, Basic NYC returns to the Beach Plaza Hotel in South Beach for a week's worth of memorable daytime showcases. But for 2007, there's going to be double the Miami madness, with parties popping off in not only the hotel's lush tropical gardens, but also on the brand-new Beach Plaza roof deck as well.
This year's lineups feature a brand new set of label showcases that will be joining some of the favorites from last few years. Deep house, jacking underground funk, and cutting-edge twisted beats will all be served up to a pack of eager revelers from some of the leading names in the house music game.
Here are just a few of the tasty highlights of the week.
• Thursday's rooftop Dirtybird Recordings party, with the notorious Claude VonStroke and Justin Martin joined by some very "Physical" special guests.
• The Canadian kids at Nordic Trax celebrating the label's 10th anniversary with a Saturday showcase.
• Phil Weeks' Robsoul Recordings breaking out the heavy jacking goods with DJ Sneak returning to the garden
• Chicago clubbing institution Smart Bar celebrating it's 25th year, headlined by the 10th anniversary of the Superjane DJ crew.
• The UK's Freerange crew, featuring label boss Jimpster, coming stateside for its first-ever WMC showcase.
• The notorious AA party, hosted by Olivier Desmet's Amenti Records and Raoul Belmans' Aroma, coming to the Beach Plaza
It hardly gets more "Miami" than partying WMC-style at the Beach Plaza Hotel. The gardens, complete with shady palm trees and landscaped waterfalls, is the ultimate atmospheric venue. With a wooden dancefloor, tiki torches, lounge chairs and bars, it's a perfect place to spend a WMC day, as industry leaders and party people alike get down to some of the underground's top DJs. The hotel's new roofdeck features a stunning 360 degree view of South Beach and a unique, intimate spot for partying and networking alike. Forget about the velvet ropes and door drama of the Miami clubs: the Beach Plaza is heavy on the collective vibe that makes the WMC such a magnetic experience year after year. Soundwise, the parties will be powered by Allen & Heath's top-of-the-line Xone 92 mixer, with speakers provided by KV2 Audio.
From 12pm till 11pm, Tuesday through Sunday, the following parties will be going off at the Beach Plaza Hotel. All the events are free with RSVPs, with pre-sale drink badges available at wanttickets.com/basicnyc.
