Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Mikal Blue Fans Website) - After years spent behind the control board as a producer for some of today's most compelling indie acts, producer Mikal Blue steps out in front of the microphone and releases his debut album, "Gold," in stores this summer on immergent. Television audiences will get a preview of the album when the title track, 'Gold,' makes its debut on the new ABC show "October Road" on April 26th. The single will also be available via all major music download services in the week preceding its "October Road" appearance.

While Mikal Blue was shaping the sound of bands such as Five for Fighting, Augustana, Limousine, One Republic, The Daylights, Colbie Caillat, Drowning Pool and Gary Jules, many of them urged him to put his talents to use on his own work. Last year, he finally heeded their advice, and took time off to write and record "Gold." Tackling themes of alienation, love, and redemption, Mikal's stirring vocals and personal lyrics help "Gold" shimmer from start to finish. Undeniably likeable songs with lyrical depth to match, the album plays like a soundtrack to the neo-bohemian lifestyle of today's youths, a captivating mix of indie sincerity and pop sensibilities honed during his production work with "American Idol" season 4 finalists.

Producers at ABC television agreed and picked 'Gold,' the album's title track, to play a crucial role in the season finale of its new drama "October Road." "October Road" follows the personal journey of popular author Nick Garrett (Bryan Greenberg) after he returns to his small hometown to recover from writer's block. To make matters worse, Garrett must also face everyone he alienated after portraying them unfavorably in his successful novel. Emotional epiphanies form the undercurrent of Blue's debut album so it comes as no surprise that a song about his own personal revelations was chosen to heighten the show's last episode. The song's lyrics and melody set the stage for Garrett's pivotal turning point in the show's story arc. "October Road's" season finale is scheduled to air April 26th at 10:00pm, immediately following "Grey's Anatomy."
