The Sixpence version of the track was produced by Rob Cavallo (Goo Goo Dolls) and mixed by Alan Sides (BBMak). "Recording 'Don't Dream It's Over' was a pleasure for me and I hope we've done the song justice," said Sixpence vocalist Leigh Nash. Sixpence's lead guitarist and songwriter Matt Slocum said he's been a fan of Crowded House frontman Neil Finn for many years: "My first introduction to the inimitable and brilliant songwriting of Neil Finn was hearing 'Don't Dream It's Over' on the radio in my early teens, and I became an instant Crowded House fan. I think Leigh Nash's passionate vocal is what makes Sixpence's version ultimately unique. The phrasing and range of Neil's melody fit her voice perfectly." The first single from Divine Discontent, "Breathe Your Name," is due out October 1. The single contains the B-side track "Northern Lights," which does not appear on the album.
