Britain's Got Talent Winner Paul Potts Gives Operatic Treatment To R.E.M. Classic 'Everybody Hurts'

LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Sony Music) - Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts knows a thing or two about hurting, and holding on. In the years leading up to his triumph on the popular British reality series, Potts endured childhood bullying, financial hardship, health issues and low self-esteem.

In recent months, however, his inspiring story of overcoming adversity with his angelic voice has won the unassuming former mobile phone salesman legions of fans around the world. Potts' recently released debut album 'One Chance,' which includes operatic arias, show tunes and pop masterpieces, has sold millions of copies and topped the charts in countries as far-reaching as the UK, Sweden, South Korea and Colombia.

It's fitting that one standout track on 'One Chance' is Potts' soaring version of the R.E.M. classic "Everybody Hurts." Sung in Italian ("Oguno Soffre") in Potts' robust tenor, the song proves an appropriate and touching selection that underscores his own experiences, and gives hope to anyone going through difficult times.

Potts says of the song and what it means to him, "It's one of my favorites on the album. It's something everyone can relate to. Over time, I've learned that life is sort of like a game of five-card stud. You may be looking at the cards you've been dealt and think it's over, but you never know what card is going to turn up."
