LOS ANGELES (STP Fans Website) - Mary Weiland filed for divorce from Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland in Los Angeles Superior Court Monday (Sept. 23), citing irreconcilable differences.

The two were wed on May 22, 2000 and officially separated on Sept. 19. They have two children together - Lucy Olivia, 2 months old, and Noah Mercer, who turns 2 years old on Nov. 19.

Mary Weiland is seeking legal and physical custody of the children with supervised visitation rights for Scott, spousal support, and for her attorney and court fees to be paid by Scott.

The couple has had a tumultuous relationship throughout the years. In December 2001, he pled guilty to spousal abuse as the result of an incident at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in which they fought over Weiland's use of prescription drugs. Weiland, who has a history of drug problems and drug arrests, was ordered to go to therapy.
