New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Fader Media) - Fania Records, home to one of the most well-known Latin catalogs in the world, announced a unique partnership with FADER Media, an extensive and authoritative group of music and lifestyle properties, for a yearlong remix project that will introduce the label's legendary music to a new generation. The ongoing collaboration begins in August 2010 and consists of one new remix per month, curated by The FADER editors and released in various formats on Fania. The first artists announced for the program include Colombia's Bomba Estereo, Mexico's Toy Selectah, and London's Isa GT.
Each remix will be released monthly on 7-inch vinyl; with bundled remixes released on a quarterly EP (vinyl, digital). In 2011, all 12 remixes will be compiled on a complete album (CD, vinyl, digital). The FADER editors will leverage their experience and connections with the hottest producers and DJs, granting them full access to the multi-tracks and original music from the extensive vaults of this classic record label.
"We are constantly looking for ways to introduce our audience to great music," states FADER Associate Publisher Melanie Samarsinghe. "The Fania catalog and this project allow us to showcase works by some of the giants of the past with today's top remix artists."
Between Fania's timeless catalogue The FADER's strong editorial vision and some of the world's most beloved, cutting edge producers, this unique partnership will cater to music consumers, DJs, music supervisors and ad agencies on a global scale.
The project will continue the success of Fania's past contemporary releases, including the Fania DJ Series-which featured key tastemakers like Giles Peterson and DJ Format-and global remix projects, including the compilation I Like It Like That: Fania Remixed.
Michael Rucker, chief marketing officer of Codigo Group, concludes, "We're thrilled to be introducing this catalog to a new audience and are looking forward to hearing what these artists create. In addition, we're excited to be partnering with The FADER to promote this new music worldwide."
